After a four year Electronic Engineering apprenticeship, my career in IT began with one of the early pioneers of the datacomms industry; Gandalf. I had roles in many departments from field service through to sales, consulting and marketing. In 1995 I joined ACC (Advanced Computer Communications), a Californian start-up Internet router manufacturer and established and ran the marketing department for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), delivering services to Enterprise, Carrier and indirect Channel customers.
After several years of close collaboration, ACC was acquired by Ericsson in 1998. Post acquisition, my role was Business Development for EMEA, dealing with the region's major fixed & wireless operators and assisting them in the planning and migration from circuit to packet switched (IP) technologies.
Since leaving Ericsson, I've run my own businesses including jointly developing several on-line/technology related ventures, such as the UK's first FON friendly Internet Service Provider: Fondoo.net, with my business partner and friend Alan Bell.
Having spent many years working in technology and delivering IT services on top of Open Source platforms, we established Libertus Solutions to help the business community at large achieve some of the massive benefits that Open Source Software can deliver.
I'm quite sociable - you can:
I wanted to work with computers from about 7 years old. I pursued a degree in computer science (never quite caught it though) and then started a career in supporting, administering and developing cool applications for businesses worldwide. Most of my projects have been based on the Lotus Notes and Domino platform and I found that I could deliver much better value by including Open Source software in the solution.
After seeing the business transformation possible by using Open Source software I am delighted to be working with Alan Lord to help bring these benefits to the wider business community through Libertus Solutions.
